Church and Church-y Things | Monica

Yo everyone whats going on. wait i know your reading this. wow im so funny. uhm so hi family whats crackalackin, im still alive just so you guys know apperently there was a rumour that i was dead which is kinda awkward cause well im not just so you know scott.. so i went to a church in the street so im going to talk about that.

just to let you all know im horrrible at english and paragraphs and grammer and everything like that. but  I KNOW WHAT A NOUN IS THOU ITS A PERSON PLACE AND THING SO I HAVE SOMETHING GOING FOR ME!! WOAAHH. but yeah bare with me cause you love me <3

How it all started was we were walking through the village because the guys have been set on finding these glass coke bottles they have like an addition to them since we’ve been in Sabana Grande so erica was like yo i think i found a place. So as we were walking there in like the i guess you can call it the town square there was a drums set set up and  there was all instruments and chairs. so i asked erica what it was and she said that it was this thing called church on the street. So yeah church on the street. It sounded pretty cool cause in canada we would never have church on the street. so i asked erica if we could go and she said we would talk about it later on when we got back to the base.  so went went on our little adventure to find the glass bottles and they had some ! but not the big ones like they wanted so there still searching for them.

After that adventure Me, Thomas, Sam, Nicole, Bethani and arie were all walking out of the store and honestly it was so sick there was like i don’t even know how to describe them they were like jacked up pickup trucks or like little dump trucks imagine something between those two things. yeah a jacked up little dump truck ! there was 2 of them it was so fun there was people like hanging out of the back, they were so fired up man like whatever party they were going to i wanted to get at, and me being me i ended up going to it ;)

After we got back everyone was just chilling so i went down to erica who was in the house with the family so i talked to them for a while. Then i remember the Church on the street thing. So i asked Erica if we could go and she was like yah ask Rach. So Rach told me to find people who wanted to go. There was about 12 of us in total and yah we were off.

When we got there man oh man it was a party. I felt like i was at a party, right away me, Amanada, and sam were just jamming. We were loving it.  We decided we needed to have a congo line. So all of us did a congo line between all these people. we found ourself behind the stage. Rachael said it was pretty funny cause there was just 12 white people chilling behind the stage.

We ended up making some new friends when we were there some little girls just came up to us and started dancing with us. They kept on trying to talk to us and we have no idea what they were saying we just smiled and said Si.
Some of the girls with us decide to go back to the base. so me, Sam, Bethani and Jea we wanted to stay. We had no boys with us but we weren’t conserned  there was two little boys that were 8 and 9 they were watching out for us the whole night. They stood near us we made pretty epic handshakes so we knew they were legit we were  safe with our little personal bodyguards. But when rachal came they left we had no idea where they went so hopefully we see them again before we leave Sabana.

There was also another little boy that came up to me and said my name and said concreto. i gave him this funny look cause first of all how does he know my name and why did he say concreto to? he pointed at me and sam and then acted out us holding a bag of concrete and dropping it :P it was so funny cause we did that so he went to the school at the base. and he apperently saw us when we dropped that 90 pound bag. He introduced us to his amigos who were all cousins they were pretty chill.

But yeah church on the street people were going crazy man. it looked like they were having like cesuras, shaking like crazy and running up and down the road yelling things in there spanish language.

it was so cool thou because one of the cooks who would never talk really she was just a cute lady just cooking and doing her thing in the kitchen but where like yah watching the church happen and this lady in a white blazer just totally takes control of the stage. She starts like going ham and yelling into the mike just getting people fired up about jesus.
there was a time where i thouht she was going to fall of the stage because she was moving around so much and closing her eyes. I guess i looked like i was scared because the 18 year guy we were hanging out with just started killing himself lauhghing but yo i was in shock.

i come from a church where its completly different. where the only time you hear people yelling out and dancing is when we have VBS. and its normally my mother and my aunt making themself look like goons infront of 12 year olds and which i relize when i teach kids down here. im excatly like them.
I really didnt know thou that people could get that into Jesus. It was a new experience for me to see. 200 hundred or more people just rocking out and loving there life giving thanks to God for everything he’s given them and thats what really rattled me , compared to me this people have really nothing how can these people have such a selfless faith and give thanks.  but then theres me when im at home who complains about everything and i have every thing i need and more and my faith life is complete crap compared to these people.

Just watching this church  happen all i could think about is the movies i watch with my Oma, about people in situations like this and having a insane faith. i thought that only happened in movies. which clearly it doesnt.

But anyways church was unreal we had a blast dancing with all the kids. sticking out like sore thumbs cause we were the only white people and me and sam just killing it on the street dancing. And then 3 hours later having to leave and we were so sad.

But yeah folks that was my church adventure i had... thats kinda it.
