Orphanage | Arie

Today we went to the orphanage. The day started off with a 2 hour bus ride which should have been boring but me and brian had an interesting talk about science and God and how they work together and the whole evolution thing. Once we got to the orphanage I could hardly wait. I was just ready to soak up the experience and get the most out of it I possibly could. I think I did. I started off the day with wheel chair races with tomei and Thomas and I had Holito. We were racing at full speed through the orphanage until a nurse told us to only walk because we might kill someone. I was a little disappointed, but the kids we were racing with didn’t seem to care so that was all right. I think me and Thomas were pushing kids around in wheel chairs from the minute we got these until like lunch time, 2 hours later. After lunch I grabbed Dominga and sat in the grass for a while with her, which she seemed to like so I was all right with that. After like an hour of that Anderson comes over in a wheel chair and yells, “bomano”, which means ”let’s go”… or something along those lines. So I figured Dominga could handle the grass pulling on her own so I started to push Anderson, He was a lot heavier than Holito so I got tired pretty quick. A few minutes after I started racing Anderson around, Holito and some other girl came up begging for a ride as well. It’s safe to say I had my hands full. But that wasn’t a problem, I cycled all the wheel chair “racers” around at the same time as dominga hadn’t run away on me. This went on pretty much until the end of the day.
I wasn’t sure what it would be like going back to the orphanage, but I’m glad it turned out the way it did. My whole day was filled with laughter and joy and I think the kids days were too. The sad part was thinking of the possibility of never seeing these awesome kids again.
